Sorry to bug yaz but, the Fender knowledge base seemed to only go up to year 2000 for identifying manufacture dates on 1985 to current guitar amplifiers.

I just picked up a nice, clean Super Reverb but the seller could not tell me either as he'd purchased it used a couple years ago himself.
Anyways, the serial number starts with CR-////// (6 digits). Can anyone advise please??

Also, where does the bias setting need to be, to be set to 'factory' setting?

OK ... maybe I just answered my own question. By digging deeper into the Fender information on this site, I discovered how to read a transformer code.
My transformer code reads EIA606-MS-0344.

Correct me if I'm wrong but this, to me, reads '2003' 44th week (Oct). Furthermore it says you could add up to six months for the transformer sitting on a shelf waiting to be installed. So that info could make my SR either a late 2003 or early 2004 build.

Adding to my disappointment is the silver and black 'tested'/'passed' sticker which is stuck onto the left inside cab wall. It has nothing on it but what appears to be 2 ,V's or one 'W' or two check marks ... I don't know.

Amp sounds great and looks showroom condition. All stock Groove tubes, a Ruby rectifier and a pair of fat 6L6s ... also Groove tube.

JMallard is correct, we need pictures, but you are reading the transformers codes correctly. What dates are the speakers, all the components should be from right around the same time frame...this will help narrow it down.

+1

Absent a verifiable build date stamped on the QC/QA sticker, developing a composite date based on the various EIA-coded components is the best you can hope for. In reality, knowing the exact week or month the amp was made is not all that critical in the greater scheme of things. I can tell you that, based on the "CR" prefix to the serial, it was assembled in Corona, California.

According to the schematics, a setting of 33 mVDC, measured at either test point. Each test point might be a little different, look for the numbers to be within a few mV of each other though, and go with the highest reading for your setting, as obviously one adjustment changes both. Presuming around 433 VDC on each Plate (check to be sure), this would give you an idle of around 14 watts, under 50%. This is a bit on the cold side, but probably set like this at the factory. Personally, I would set the bias to around 40 mVDC at either test point for approximately 60% idle. Some might go even higher than that.

I've biased several original Super Reverbs but never a re-issue with the factory-provided test points. But assuming a healthy rectifier and filter-cap array, and a B+ of ~460 VDC at the standby switch, 40 mVDC would be a good datum point. Depending upon tube brand and condition, you might milk that up a skosh to suit your ear.

To post a photo. Go to Photobucket. Or some online site to share media. Upload your photos.

For Photobucket:

1.) Click onto photo you wish to post. See "Links to Share The Photo" on the right side?

2.) Now, scroll your mouse (the computer's mouse  ) over the IMG address window.

3.) Left click onto address window.

4.) It will say: "Copied"

5.) Now, paste the copied IMG address into the window of this Forum.

6.) So... this:

{URL=http://s1191.photobucket.com/user/BMW2002Ti/media/Pro_amp_1962_back1_edited-1.jpg.html}{IMG}http://i1191.photobucket.com/albums/z461/BMW2002Ti/Pro_amp_1962_back1_edited-1.jpg{/IMG}{/URL}

7.) Becomes this: (after {...} is replaced with [...]).

You're welcome. :D

That one Jensen P10R has a 2003 (09), 24th week stamp. Along with the EIA stamp on the PT --- your amp most prolly is a 2003 model.

Interesting wiring on the speakers. Looks like at least two are in series (the 2200324 one has two black lines going to it). Wonder what is the secondary impedance of the output tranny.

JOC, have you played on a vintage BF or SF Super Reverb? How close is the tone of your SRRI to these older amps?

Thanks!

The Super Reverb (and re-issue) OT is wound with a 2-ohm secondary. Standard speakers are 8-ohms each, wired in parallel. Any variance from that is an anomaly which should be investigated.

Here's what I'd call an impressive wiring job. No big deal but, very cosmetically nice.

Aside from owning a couple blonde tolex Deluxe reverbs back in the early '90'S and a couple SRs back in the early '70's, I've not played any others - was too stuck on making a living with Marshall and HiWatt stacks.

In thee prehistoric days though, I do remember the sounds all my guitar playing buddies had in the basements of mid-western USA. They were using Twins and Supers and Bandmasters and bassmans (the the odd one using a Traynor Bassmaster for guitar which I might add really gave the Fender Bassman a serious run. (kinda sounds like fishing gear doesn't it???)

Anyways, aside from the weight, I'm sure this'll be the only amp I'll never mod. It is more than what I bargained for audio wise. It was bought to replace my 'too loud' HR DeVille - mission accomplished. The fact that it is more 'musical' than any amp I've heard in a long time will keep it stock.
I'm building a 4 X 10 cab to house 4 Celestian Greenbacks and will have a couple different interchangeable speaker wire harnesses. One like the SR's and one like the DeVilles. I tried the Greenbacks with the DeVille (my Marshall 425A cab) and it sold me to buy Greenies. I don't know what they'll sound like with the SR. No matter what, I want a 4 x10 extension cab laying around just in case.

Ok, looking at the complete wiring on each speaker... all are in parallel. To equal 2-ohms total impedance load.

Thanks! For the description of the tone. :D
