Someone posted about this cool little device but not comments on how well it works.

Has anyone tried this attenuator, if so do you like what it does?

I just got a HR DLX3 and I think this thing could be a nice addition to help keep the volume controlled better.
I got this amp to use it's great clean tones with a variety of distortion pedals.
The pedals have their own volume out and I'm using them as a way to better adjust the amps touchy volume control and it works.

But with this device it sounds like I can crank the power tube section to get some of the cool power tube harmonic break up to add some flavor.
Will this device do that and do it well?

It's only $20 so not big loss, but I thought I'd ask first, no reason to just throw $20 away. :)

This device is NOT an attenuator. It will NOT allow you to drive the power tubes into more distortion.

What it does, is allow more distortion of the pre-amp tubes AND makes it easier to control the amp's sensitivity to volume changes which is very touchy with the amps volume knobs.

I think it's a worthwhile $20 as long as you understand what it does and does not do. I'm happy with mine (used on the Blues Deluxe RI).

+1 IM4Tone

The volume box plugs into the effects loop, so it is inserted in the signal path after the last preamp stage and before the PI (output section of the amp).

Thanks for the heads-up. :)

I looked into it further and you're right it won't do what I want it to do.
The maker sent me an email about another box he makes that actually plugs the amp speaker out into the box and then the box out to the speaker.
$50.
But, I read some reviews and seems it's pretty cheap and sucks tone.

I'm sticking with what works. I'm using this amp for may pedals and the distortion boxes have volume outs. I can get the amp volume up around 3 and then use the pedal volumes to get better control of the volume. No tone suck and it works. :)
