The best tone in your ears comes from your heaviest amp setups..

Try as I may, I never seem to get the tone I want from my lighter amp setups..

What I have setup for over drives is a Rat with the lm308, Boss MT2 and a Hardwire CM2 in that order and the Zoom G5 has the left side in the the Deville loop and the right just goes direct into the acoustic side of the Laney.

I can get pretty close with my Deluxe Reverb, Egnater Tweaker 15 with a 1 x 12 cab in stereo, but my Blues Deville with an old Laney GC80a just hits the nail...

The Deluxe Reverb and the Egnater work pretty well with my overdrives and my Zoom G5, but there is still a little hum..

The Blues Deville and the Laney work good with everything and no hum..

Now this is at bedroom level and playing a little heavier stuff like old Black Sabbath, in a live situation the hum is bearable with the DRRI and the Tweaker, but the Blues Deville and the Laney really rock then..

The main issue I have found in trying to get a good sounding stereo rig is when you hook things together to two amps, the hum and hiss starts to happen.. I have a Radial ABY that helps out a lot, but it is still there... I also have one of the dual Ebtech chingies and that lifts the hum out pretty good as well...

About ready to pull the switch on another Tweaker 15 Head and cab and give that a try, but I already have six amps, I guess you can never have too many amps though..

So I did an experiment with my 65 DRRI today... I plugged my overdrives and guitar into channel two input two, plugged the input of my Zoom G5 into channel two input one and the output of the Zoom G5 into channel one input two.

WOW  To my surprise it does not hiss and all of the delays, modulations, chorus, vibratones, rotary, looper and all the good stuff sound friggin awesome hooked up that way, and I can control the Zoom G5 effects level with the foot controller..

Leo Fender was a genius...

Indeed he was.

And like most of us, he was a tinkerer and an experimenter by nature. Sounds like you've found a good solution to wringing the best tone from your rig.

Rawk on!
