Just joind an open jam for the 1st time last night with my cool black Affinity Strat and Frontman 15G. I was SHREDDING some ZZ TOP and the distortion was really smooth. Who needs tube amps?
The only problem was, I couldnt heer myself over the bass and drums, but the sound man kept telling me to turn it down so I guess it was loud enough in the audience.

I was thinking about putting a bigger speaker, maybe a 10 inch and there looks to be enough room once i take out the 8 inch speaker.

Are you sure the soundman wasn't telling you to turn it down because you sounded so crappy?

So will a bigger speaker push more air?

Anything bigger than the 8 inches will sound better ,

Just soak that 8 inch speaker from your Frontman in Kerosene, that should help tremendously with your tone. We know how fond of the stuff you are.

Honestly, yomammaaho has a point. It must have sounded really horrible cranked up like that. Rather than swapping speakers, you should get a bigger amp. Just being honest.

8"? 10"? Kerosene?

Could it be that you showed up with a 15 watt child's plaything.

You brought a toy knife to a gunfight.

Maybe i do need more power. I think i can afford a fender champion 20 or 40 soon. 20 watts should be almost as loud as a 22 watt deluxe reverb but without expensive tubes.
Why does everyone think they have to be snyed here? Cant you reply without being a jerk??

I was actually going to recommend the 40w Champion. The 20w Champion will not be as loud as the Deluxe Reverb for various reasons. 15w & 20w ss amps are meant to be home practice amps. If you have the option of trying amps out before you buy, it's highly recommended, that way you can make sure you get what you want the first time around. good luck.

You must remember, that if most people on this forum were to have a brain MRI done, there would be 12AX7's in the front images and 6L6's in the rear images. And if anything green was in there, it would need to be removed.

That's why.
