I want to monitor and record my Hot Rod Deluxe using my Weber mini-mass attenuator’s line out to a Pod Studio UX2 to my Mac’s DAW. Can this be done? Also, will I be able to silence the deluxe’s speaker and monitor through headphones/monitors on my computer as well as use a cab IR?

Are there any dangers in doing this? I know very little in terms of routing so I don’t want to damage any of my equipment. Ideally, you would want to mic a tube amp, but in my current situation I need silent/near silent recording options.

Thanks!

Hi eman-87,

Sounds like you have the recording connection figured out. To record with the amp silent, simply unplug the speaker from the attenuator. Be sure to keep the attenuator and/or speaker connected to the amp so that there is a load on the amp when in use.

Alternatively, you can use the "Preamp Out" for recording.

If you have no attenuator connected, and only have the speaker connected, and want silent recording using the "Preamp Out" from the amp, pull the PI tube (V3), which is the small tube closest to the output tubes.

Okay, so I can keep the amp connected to the weber's input and just unplug the speaker. Could I also keep both the amp and speaker connected through the mini mass and set its volume to "0" to use as a dummy load? Would I still get a signal through the line out to my audio interface?
