I just bought a new 65 Fender Deluxe Reverb and everything was going great until I plugged in my PRS which resulted in the signal/volume cutting out. After doing a little troubleshooting, I have not been able to get the behavior to reproduce when I plug into port #2. On the otherhand, it reproduces at will when plugged into port #1. I tested the PRS guitar on my Mesa Boogie and did not see the problem.

Any ideas about this are appreciated. Is this indicative of a problem in my amp or expected behavior? I know the two ports do differ in their impedance and given the PRS 408 pickups ability to transform from singlecoil to humbucker. Your thoughts are appreciated.

The amp is one day old if there is any reason to suspect a problem, I would prefer to exchange it now.

Do you have access to a different guitar with which to test the amp?

Yes I did try it with a different guitar. I found the same behavior with the Stratocaster, but it was inconsistent. Sometime it would work and other times it behaved like the PRS. When the problem happened with the Strat, it just got quiet.

That would seem to isolate the issue as an amp problem.

Have you tried both the "1" and "2" inputs in each of the channels?

If the symptom persists with all four inputs there's something amiss with the amp. At one day old, you deserve better than that -- I'd return it immediately for exchange or a refund.

Sorry, sir. This sounds like a poor solder point(s) on input 1. Back to the store. Maybe, try out the replacement before coming home?

Good luck! :D
