I just received my new twin reverb in the mail yesterday, and this thing is noisy. When I let the amp warm up for a minute and take it out of standby with all knobs turn down to zero, I get a very audible white noise. I would assume that it should be dead silent at this point. When I turn up the volume, the noise slightly increases, but not much from 0 to 10. It's loud enough that when playing at room volume for practice, you can hear it.

I read that if you turn all the eq knobs down to zero, you can have the master volume at 10 and you cant hear a thing. Well, I turn all the eq knobs down and I can to up the volume to 2 and hear the guitar. Should I not be hearing anything at all?

What I did so far:

Replace all preamp tubes one by one (except V5) with know working good ones.

Left one unplugged 1V and V2.

Unplugged reverb pan.

Plugged unplugged footswitch.

A brand new amp or second hand ? A must to know first

Remove one tube at time and ear .

1- remove V1 ,
No noise ; it is V1 or circuit before
noise ;

2- plug V1 remove V2
no noise it is V2 or circuit between V2 and V1
noise ;

3- Plug V2 remove V3............
No noise ; it is circuit between V3 and V2
noise;
Do that until no noise , stop a the power tube , do not remove them .

Amp must be swithed OFF when unplug / plug tubes

IMO you may receive used gear by mail too and "new " could mean "new to me" or "new from the store " !

White noise ; some lead dress to fix ?

Not easy to return ( $$ ) and to be sure the other one will be quiet !

May have some lead dress not well done at the building plant ?

Not easy to fix on a forum .

Tests with know good tube ; be sure it is OK , new tubes are quiet one .

Any electric problem in your home ? ground missing in wall outlet ,
No cell phone or PC no halogen lamp or neon lamp ?

Noise test must be done with NO guitar plugged .

botreverb, check the bias.
When I received my new '59 Bassman Ltd, the bias on it was way low, and causing ghost notes.
Getting your amp to the correct setting may quiet the hiss.

I found a thread with my same exact issue. Also contains youtube videos of what mine sounds like.

viewtopic.php?f=13&t=86094&hilit=twin+white+noise

They just traded it in and got a new one to fix the problem. I got it from guitar center (shipped to store) so it wont be so hard to return. I'd hate to have this happen again on a amp that cost so much, so I may just get a refund.

This isn't my video but a video from that thread, this is what my amp sounds like though...

Did you exchange it for another or request a refund?
