Forgot....the parts are inbound for a 60hz notch filter...just for giggles i will try on the BIAS circuit...might be a waste of time but WTH eh?

as of right now that amp is killing it...better than any super reverb i have had (all real BF/SF)

Just a quickie....

rebuilt with 716's and with crappy 6L6's installed

with a 12ax7 PI tube i am seeing 41 watts about the time the PI starts to fall over and at 58 watts when maxed out and man it is screaming with tele strat or les paul

so now that we are back to square one mostly (still waiting some some parts)..i'll tighten up things and build that ODS circuit and make some sound samples

i do want to try different tubes in the PI find the best (in this case one that is a tad stiffer than i would normally like) and do the same with a variety of 6L6's and see

using 5751 and 12au7 i can get things to get ugly quicker without changing the character as what this was all about (for me anyway)...

and of course i will unbalance the PI again also and test.....

i need this amp to be loud whereas my others fill in the holes

just want some more- "summ'n" outta of it...but i played super reverbs for years and may be fighting the "tones in my head" - it's got balls with wingedC or tung sols -but it really does sound better with the 716's in support roles and 715's and ps-6 in the signal path

NOT using the black-plates until EVERYTHING is done THEN i slip them in and see what happens

freaking genelx KT66's keep crapping out not sure those are good guitar amp tubes might be better suited for stereo gear

found a set of RCA's i stashed decades ago in a box that was headed to the dump.....IEEEEEEE  in the arms of momma -"taking this box of junk...."   Made the save in seconds HAD i been in a REAL jail and not tethered....they would be ....GMF now. (cherish those tubes with the cold war coming back we may be back to Chinese, and those with NOS will be oligarchs of tubes.

Rollo,

Look into the Tungsol RI 6L6G-STR. It's one of the few new black plate 6L6GC currently available.
