I haven't played one of those amps in fifteen or twenty years -- sorry.

Just twirl the knobs until you find a sweet spot......it won't take long.

The low power setting has almost no effect on the output volume of the amp. .

Power output and db's you ear are two different things .

A friend of mine had one of those and I used it in his studio several times, and I thought it was a very nice amp. It has a whole bunch of tubes in it.

I found an online manual for the amp last night. It states the impendance switch is pre-set to 16ohm at the factory.

When I looked at the back panel I found the switch set at 8ohms (4ohm, 8ohm, 16ohm is the options for the switch) thats where it was when I tested the amp.

Is that damaging to the amp and speakers??? I don't have a guitar right now to test it at the recommended 16ohm.

Sorry I have never investigated how amps and speakers really work, but anyhow according to what I'm looking at....

Below the three speaker jacks it reads "100watts 4ohms min. total"

And speakers are rated at 8ohms each and are wired in series.

According to the manual...

T. Impendance Selector Switch : Sets output impendance of the amplifier. The setting should equal the total load impendance as determined above using the three speaker jacks. (The Twin is supplied with two 8-ohm speakers connected in series, therefore the IMPENDANCE SELECTOR SWITCH is set to 16ohms at the factory)

My Supersonic Twin came from the factory with it's 2 x 12 Celestion's wired in series (i.e both 8ohms in series for a total of 16ohms), and the selector was set on 8ohms impedance.

Thank's for answer , I mostly repair old vintage Fender amps , I never see these "new" amp .

That'is funny 16 ohms , I don't know why Fender built this way , Anybody have an answer ?

Speaker in series do not have same sound than in parallel

That's what's great about these forums :D So much stuff to learn! I'm fresh to this whole speaker ohm thing. So should my Impendance switch stay at 8ohm or go to 16ohm?

serie = 8+8 = 16

Correct.

Conversely, in parallel......

8Ω + 8Ω = 4Ω

Looks like you'll have to flip the switch to 16ohms like me. Maybe the our assembly line guy that day stepped out for a smoke break or something? Lol
