Being knowledgable and even helpful on other fora does not justify berating people, or seeking out the "Modern Guitar Amplifiers (1985 - Current)" forum just to put down those who like newer amps.

I dare say it - the clique does far more harm than good. No matter how much of an asset they are elsewhere, here they chase new people away. Their "contributions" in this forum are largely personal attacks and +1'ing each other. There is no excuse for that, and I'd rather not have their expertise than to see more people feel unwelcome.

Why would someone who has nothing good to say about modern amps even come here, given they already have a vintage amp forum?
It's a shame that the forum admins let this fly under the radar.
Remember that those who buy and sell vintage amps do not pay a penny to Fender. Those who buy new amps do. And are thanked by being laughed at and berated in Fender's official forums.

Sorry, but picturing that in my mind seemed funny. It reminded me of the movie "The Other Guys". We have to be able to take a little ribbing, and in the grand scheme of things, some teasing on this forum isn't really that important.

BTW, I thought that the bit about the new forum banter was very funny, made me laugh. :)

Perhaps.

But for those of us who restore and repair Fender amps (whether vintage or contemporary) we pay plenty for genuine Fender parts.

Thus your point is a non sequiter.

Nice try but no Order Of Lenin for you.

Pour yourself another Stoli and relax......comrade.

Bullying is important, such as laughing at and ridiculing other's opinions and ideas. I'll bet five bullies have run off over a hundred people, new and old. How about an eye roll in memory of the dearly departed?

+1

...and, I hate to say it but, I have gotten FAR MORE help, and from more friendly "amp gurus" over on the other Fender forum. There doesn't seem to be a clique there at all, at least not one that feels it's superior over others. Everyone there actually WANTS to help. I've learned more about working on amps over there than I ever learned from the "experts" here .

Disclaimer: I've learned here too, and not all the "experts" here are asshats.

non se·qui·tur noun \ˈnän-ˈse-kwə-tər also -ˌtu̇r\
: a statement that is not connected in a logical or clear way to anything said before it

As long as we are nitpicking, a non sequitur implies that the statement has no connection whatsoever the the preceding statement or the topic being discussed. What you meant to say was "that's not entirely true". But just because a statement is untrue, it does not make it a non sequitur.

For example, it would be incorrect for me to call your statement a non sequitur just because you misspelled non sequitur.

My Doberman loves chocolate cake and it's going to kill him one day.

That's a non sequitur.

Exactly! I really believe the forum administrators should come on here and watch some of the posts on this particular board, and if necessary,WARN those who berate the ones who favor the newer amps. If they keep on doing it,ban them from the forums. I've seen that done on a couple fishing website forums I belong to. I was berated for preferring a certain make and model of fishing boat over another and the guy who berated me was banned entirely. This board is for those who favor the modern amps,...and if certain ones come over to this board from the "vintage amp" board and berate us who favor modern amps, they need to be warned about it. A little off the topic,maybe,but,...the newer, more modern Fender amps are just as much a Fender amp as the older vintage ones. So,arth1,...you are exactly right and I agree wholeheartedly with your statements.
Sharing knowledge is one thing, but as you stated,...it does not justify coming over to this board and put down those who favor the much newer, more modern amps. Fender needs to watch these forums a bit more closely! I enjoy these forums ,but I will NOT tolerate being shot down and berated just because I favor the newer, more modern amps.

Not too far back, I was a newB to the forum and in short order experienced the "bullying" on posts concerning my opinion that Fender should start offering stainless steel frets like Carvin does. Still haven't changed my mind concerning that. Look how Fender now offers customized guitars (like Carvin).
Among my current amps are: drri wine red special, 93 american blues Deville, and 69 Twin Reverb.
So far, the only "modern" amp I disrespect is the Deville (only for its crappy circuit board construction...which is currently out for a transplant to point to point).
So.....I DID put on my "forget list" this forum.
However........I came back and got excellent advise, enough to save me an amp tech on the 69 Twin Reverb.
Looking back......and given that these same beraters assisted me, I only have to laugh now....and even fondly
Kinda like an initiation.

You guy's got what you wanted, Bill's gone. I find the whole bullying thing pretty amusing. It reminds me of some of the elementatry schools I work in except for one big difference. We have choices here. You can either ignore of foe list the person who personally attacked you, which is easy and works well, report the person, or just keep on complaining about the so called "clique" on the forum. It's funny, there is a clique of old guy, old gear haters on here too. I don't care, do what you want, but don't complain about bullying when you are guilty of the same thing. I don't personally attack anyone, but have been personally attacked over opinions. I've been called all names worse than dipstick and have been threatened in emails. I don't whine about it. I just Ignore it. strings10927 is having a ball with this and even uses bluesky quote as a tagline. I think it's time to grow up and try to get along.
