Sorry to hear that Bill. I will miss your straight forward approach and analytical abilities when trouble shooting amp and guitar problems!

I hope you change your mind, you will be missed by more than just me!

OK, that's one vote for 'stay'. I vote leave.

When your POFS amp blows up (as it most assuredly will sooner or later) Bluesky's absence to render assistance or help you select a worthy replacement will only highlight your total lack of foresight or appreciation for what he's done for many on this forum.

Seriously. More people want Bill around than you think.

Once the tendonitis in his ignoring finger goes away I'm sure he'll be back.

 You have GOT to be kidding me,...Bill's leaving us? Why? I've been away from the forums a while,...something happen? I can't speak for anyone else, but I sure hope he will come back. I was really starting to learn alot from Bill regarding tube amps. :( :(

I'm new to this forum, but I've been a member of many others over the years and these lame "goodbye" threads are just a pitiful cry for attention. If you really want to leave, just close Google Chrome or switch over to pornhub or whatever. It's not necessary to post some cryptic "goodbye cruel forum" post. You do that so you can anonymously look back later and see if people care that you left.

Personally, I don't know the guy so whatevs. He seemed like a know-it-all douche who was bothered that he HAD to respond to every noob post and tell them they are doing it wrong. Seemed way too uptight. Maybe the internet just isn't for him.

Have to agree. Goodbye posts are lame and childish. As is announcing to the world who's on your ignore list, and trying to give it an air of 'exclusivity'. Pretty hard when he allowed himself to be pissed off by pretty much anyone, so most people were on it. Read a few of his posts and sounds like an up himself blowhard.

Good rid.

might have something to do with the "amp suggestions" thread on this "modern amps" discussion.

If he gets that frustrated answering questions that he feels are beneath him I don't know why he continues to do it, unless he is a masochist. His thing seems to be "I've provided the schematics, figure it out" and then gets upset when the other person (who isn't trained in electronics) asks further questions. People don't come on a forum called Fender>modern guitar amplifiers to ask a question only to be told "read the schematics" or "do a search". Those types of questions are exactly what this forum seems to have been created for. I don't know why he subjected himself to answering technical questions if the other person's ignorance made him so angry.

If you know a little Bluesky636 ( Bill ) you would not talk like that.
But you're probably the kind of person who always talk about what you do not know ?

He probably took a look in the mirror and didn't like what this forum was turning him into.

It seems to me that eight thousand posts in, he was failing to get the same kind of psychological fulfillment he got in the beginning. Like a rat in a cage he frantically kept pulling that lever, but the rush no longer materialized. Eventually he was reduced to being one of those late-forum clubhouse guys who gets off on tormenting the noobs and the oddballs. Another common trait of these guys is they start making up their own forum rules like everyone must conform to the highest standards of technical and scientific excellence when discussing little speaker-containing boxes used to make music, members who know more about said boxes are high-value posters, members who know less are low-value, etc.

In my opinion he's been off the rails for some time and his "friends" should have politely brought it up with him in private rather than egging him on to this sad ending. But that's probably part of how they get their jollies too.

All any of us know about him is what (little) we have read of his posts. And those posts showed him to be a jerk.

I'm sure this is the case. I've seen the "old dogs" on other forums fall victim to the same thing. They and their buddies begin to think that the forum is "theirs" and anyone new must pay their respects, Godfather-style, to the older forumites, tolerate some insults and hazing, and then after their post count has grown to a sufficient number, the newer member might join them in debasing newer noobs. Goodbye bluesky goodbye.

It's amazing how common the pattern is. No matter what the subject matter, forums almost always become moribund over time. It's probably why Facebook and Twitter are eating their lunch.
