So I'm having an American 93? Blues Deville rebuilt by a good builder (point to point...ect), and wondering if the power tranny can safely provide another ax7 gain stage.
I'm already guessing a supplemental tranny for tube reverb.....and tremolo.

The trannyheater specs are 6.54vac@3.75A.
2ea. 6L6's =1800ma, and 3ea. 12AX7's=900ma for a total of 2.1 amps.
Looks like I have 1.65A extra capacity.
Am I missing something?

Also.....there's a tap for 33.4vac, 69 ma for the solid state switching and reverb I would also have available.
I wonder if this could be configured to power a reliable gain stage?

The Deville is a blond tweed cab in PRISTINE condition, and the chassis rebuild will be between $500(already paid) plus whatever options yet to be discussed (chassis not shipped yet).

Any ideas?

BTW....the pwr. transformer specs posted above are from here:
http://shop.amppartsdirect.com/Fender-H ... -18018.htm

I'm not sure if the specs actually match original equip..
If so, why would Fender include extra filament capacity in this tranny?

If you'd read the full description you'd have realized that this tranny is also common to the '93 Concert and Super Amps -- both of which have six dual-triode pre-amp tubes. That's why it's specs are so robust.

Thanks guys. Looks like I have at least 3 preamp tubes ( if room) to play with.
What I want is a) tube reverb, b) vibrato , and c) a little more tube gain.

Will see what the builder says.
With the faulty pcb board construction of the Deville.......let's see if I can turn a lemon into lemonaide.

I'm familiar with seeing transformers for Blues Deville from listings for other "Fender" replacements.  They weren't used in 'brown' Concert amp in early 60s, and not in 60s Super, but should be more power than a Super.  Should end up with more clean headroom than a Super.  I'll tell you more of what can be done when I see it.

Builder is Raybob

The Super and Concert Amps referenced by the tranny vendor are the 1993 blackface iterations produced as part of FMIC's "Pro Tube" series.

Chassis en-route to Tube-Tone for organ transplant.
While I'm shooting for a fire breather (that the 212 Deville can be at higher volumes), I'm also hoping for some decent lower volume overdrive.
Raybob will let me know about possibilities.

btw....that Texas builder does look top notch, but my dough's already committed.

There are several custom builders who offer conversions such as you envision. I'm sure yours will turn out great.

Raised single stranded copper ground bar is one of the best ways to avoid ground loops. Very nice layout. Easy to move the contact point to the chassis, in order to find the quietest points on each chassis.
