I have a first generation CT and I have been noticing a lot of distortion lately on settings that are normally clean. Last night the amp stopped outputting altogether and all I could hear was static coming from the speakers. I turned it off and back on with no change... a little thump on the top of the amp and it was back to normal... at least back to where it was before the static... the distortion issue on a clean setting is still there until I turn the gain down to next to nothing and bump up the master volume... any ideas what I should start looking for - I imagine the static issue will soon be back.

IMO output transistors / integrated circuits could be defective.

You need to see a qualified tech to fix it .

If you tap the head I would starts to come back I unplug amp and pull the board out and take a magnifying glass and look at all the solder joints very close. Look for bad solder joints

Hi tjclark123, welcome to the forums. 8)

Could be the 12AX7 tube needs replacing, if you have one handy, try that and be careful while inside the amp, there are lethal voltages in there.
