You need to see the internals and check dates on trannies .. to verify if the amp is as original as the seller claims.

That orange-basket JBL is not original to the amp.

who knows how much money people have spent on gear that could have been solved with a downward twist of the guitar's volume knob and then turning up the amp and building their tone from there.

Oh man the secret is out!

That's pretty much how I play, specially at home. The volume on my amps are always 6+ and I find that with a Strat the sweet spot is right around 8 on the guitar volume. With a 335/345 the guitar volume is a lot lower, but it gives me a lot more flexibility. Keep it around 3-4 for a cleaner tone, 5-7 for a little dirtier but still sweet tone, anything after that is just nasty mean tone

I almost always leave the treble at 10 and adjust the bass depending on the guitar and the room, very rarely do I feel like I have to drop the treble. With my 345 bass goes all the way down!

I also like having tone control on the bridge pickup in my Strats, leaving the middle open. Depending on the amp/speakers the tone control on the bridge is somewhere between 5-7. With a Fender amp with the volume at 6+ and the bridge pickup selected on my Strat there is some heavenly tone going on there!

Once you learn how to control the tone/volume knobs on both amp and guitar you'll never have to deal any ice picky tone IMO. When I had my DRRI I had the normal channel connected to the Vibrato channel (Fritz mod) and it did sound better. But I probably won't bother doing it again, if I ever buy another DRRI. I have a nice SFDR that I love, so I don't see a need to own a DRRI anymore

Oh forgot to mention, I don't use any pedals, so YMMV.

I was using an OD -- not really for the distortion -- but just to add a little thickness to the sound. I just tried it again, and you're right... I no longer need the pedal..lol!

Of course! As long as it's a real Fender amp

Getting the tubes cooking is all I care about, I know nothing about SS amps... or even other "fake" Fender amps.

I prefer using the term "Leo Fender Amps" to differentiate between those faux posers and that which the Wizard of Fullerton himself designed.

Well ii have a DRRI (jensen) and a supersonic 22 with fender spec. dsgn. speaker

mine was bright so i looked around, did the Fritz the cat mod, and some of the ritzel mods (the lower value spanning resistor is something to investigate)

i retubed right away to small bottle 6V6 from tube store (genlex) mullards and i have old school 'merican made tubes too

so i recapped with the typical 716's the amp was really nice and tight and sounded good i replace ALL including the 10pf ceramics with mica's, really the two cap setups help

so i did a thing i once did for a bud (but diff values)

i put the tone cap values of a Vibro King in there (either 150 or 250pf treble) (normal channel)

the pi coupling cap to a .01

bais balance (will put PI balance in with small pots soon)

Stock the amp with tight in a semi constipated prequacky sound (BUT sounded much better with a V30 inplace of the Jensen) but loses some of it's fender sound so i put back the jensen for now...my guitars are all TOL stuff all the normal cool pups etc.... so i tried the gamut from a esquire, tele, LP, SG/P90s and its a ripper to a byrdland

sounds great

i jump this way if i am using a single coil i plug into normal channel (the VK modd'd one) input 1 then jump input two to input one of the vibrato channel and set my volumes and tones and it's FAT or it can spank....

if i am using a les paul i just do the opposite i put the LP into chan one of the vib channel and jump from input two to input one of the normal channel

i like it a bunch and if i am not needing to switch guitars quickly or i need an amp that is different then i use them

but to go pick and grin 4 hours or blow some nice sweet blues

the DRRI can be dialed in easily

(i also did Feedback stuff too)...so now that i like it i am getting a pTP made same values no Vibrato...ordering it tonight or tomorrow (BTW i left the 47pf bypassing Vibrato channel Vol pot in place.

NOW the Supersonic 22 has the same power amplifier. the preamp is nice it';s sweet in one mode and then a nicely done ganin structures is switched in and out...the foot peal is very robust and the DIN cable it uses is rubberized and high quality ...

it uses tubes only for everything but the loop which is bypassed by relays that are audio types (verses power types) and gold plated internal contacts...very low internal "on" resistance

the loop could use nicer opamps two sual op amss are used but one only uses one of the amps and the other is non significant

V4 is the driver receivers for the loop the opamps are tl072's and i tested many types in there and the best bang for the buck and sound were the OPA2134's

my old grody rodie's ss22 is here so i have a non molested one i am going to check against mine and detail on a spread sheet i started last year and post

but i have put gold HIGH quality sockets in V3 and V4 so i can roll chips

so for me i am using LME49720 although not jfet i'll post all measurements once i do grodie rodie's

THE SS@@ needs a good going through tightening connectors so they get a tighter grip, and other littly nigglt things

but I LOVE the SS22 or the Drri....for what they are and the 22 is damn good gigging amp
