Just wondering if the transformers, mainly PT and OT, are of different design in the '68 Custom DR compared to the '65 DRRI. I've heard they're the same and I've heard they're different. Can anyone shed some light on this?

Thanks.

Both schematics show all four transformers identical according to the part #'s. I always thought the '68 Custom's had specially designed Schumacher transformers, according to the demo's at Sweetwater, etc. Maybe that's what the DRRI's always had.

There is no reason to be different if electronics of both amps need same power .

It cost less to Fender ( and to us ) use same part

+1

Any sonic differences lie in the values used in the respective circuits, especially those of the coupling/tone caps and resistors used in feedback loops.
