" My 59 Bassman LTD RI doesn't seem to be powering. The rectifier lights up, but nothing else, no other valves or the jewel light (which was never a reliable indicator anyway, but which i put down to either a loose connection or faulty bulb, as it did light upon pushing in, sometimes). "

Ok, if the heater line fuse popped --- did this happen on the first fire-up, after the amp had been off for awhile? If so, it's not uncommon. Heater lines draw a lot of current went they are stone cold (due to lower resistance). I'd just replace the fuse (or have it replaced), and then check the VAC across the heater line. It should be 6.3VAC, once the amp is warmed up. If the voltage read is well below 6.3 VAC (like 6 VAC of less), you have a problem. Something is drawing too much current.

You (or the tech) would need to pull & replace each tube one-by-one and re-measure the heater voltage. Watching for which tube pulled, caused the biggest jump in voltage. Then, replace that tube with another good tube and see if the voltage stays nominal.

Anyhow, good luck with the amp!

I used it only 2 days before, and everything seemed ok. Has not been moved. It has however experienced a drop from an over-exuberant and inebriated drummer in past few months, and was displaying curious drops in & out every so often.

The dead heater voltage is likely related to impact damage.

Loose wire, fractured solder joint, broken trace on a PCB, defective tube, etc.

Although not a surety, the most likely scenario, if the heater circuit is the culprit, is that a faulty tube(s) caused the fuse to blow. In that case, replace the tube(s) and fuse, and possibly the two 100 ohm resistors in the heater circuit, and all would be good.

Two 47 ohm resistors, not 100 ohms.

Right you are. I've replaced so many that were 100 ohm, that was stuck in my brain.

Same for me , fist time I see those 47 ohms . Never work on Bassman 59 Reissue heater circuit

Did you ever find out what was wrong with your amp?

It's been 6 years, I hope so.

A lot of threads end this way, no feedback.
