Sorry ,not usefull to help you more . Phone camera is poor for close up . But tell me, can you hold in your hand the non connected end of the wire ?

You move it from the first big photo , this end was in the amp's left corner .

IMO this wire have nothing to do with your issue .

You did not answer to my question about the fuse ; how do you test it ?

If that is not a picture of your amp, the wire doesn't mean anything. Does your amp have the same wire that is not connected? The fuse should be checked with a meter, out of the circuit, looks can be deceiving.

But if you are going to take it to a tech, it is pointless to even discuss. :|

+1000 to everything shimmilou says.

i know you are right. just wanted to see what i could suss out myself as tech is away on holiday, so anything like testing, a wee bit of guidance and education as to things i might be able to do myself is always beneficial in the long run. didn't take it out of the amp when i tested it. so i'll do that anyways and let ya'll know.

If you talk about testing the fuse , you must remove it from the amp . In the amp a blow fuse will read good, I talk about the heater fuse.
Test with tester not with your eyes .

With amp off, check the resistance across the fuse. Should be near zero ohms, if ok. Should be near infinity, if blown. Basic electronic knowledge and a DVM is needed.

If the fuse is ok & the amp doesn't work --- you may need a bit more than basic knowledge to fix the amp. Tech time, IMHO.

If you leave the fuse on the amp , heater circuit may show good fuse on you meter .

Heater circuit are very very low resistance. Not like high voltage fuse .

Unless you are an "expert " have the fuse in you r hand to test.

Agree. In this circuit, reading across a blown fuse in circuit will show little or no resistance on a DVM. It must be removed to test.

thanks for the help guys. think i'll just go to tech tbh! i'm a complete noob when it comes to amp internals, but our guy is on hols so i'll have to wait. it's not urgent thankfully, so i'll let ya's know what happens. IF it is the heater... what does that involve being repaired? it needs new 6L6's anyway, so i'll order myself some new ones of those if anyone has any recommendations... crunchy, punchy, not too high gain, just enough to bite on feel

As I write april 20 :

Heater circuit do not work IMO

Look and take a voltage reading on heater circuit. From Power Transformer to pilot lamp ( jewel ) to all tubes. You must have close to 6.3 AC volts .

This amp may have a printed circuit board and plug in wires from Power Transformer , easy to have a broken printed circuit or bad connections.

It is easy to fix for a qualified tech . It need more time to have access of parts / printed circuit than to fix it . Those amp ( most all with printed circuit ) are all the same .

If it is, is that fixable or worth fixing? talking cost here. or do i have a big pile of dung now sitting in the corner? worst case scenario

Although not a surety, the most likely scenario, if the heater circuit is the culprit, is that a faulty tube(s) caused the fuse to blow. In that case, replace the tube(s) and fuse, and possibly the two 100 ohm resistors in the heater circuit, and all would be good.

Two 47 ohm resistors, not 100 ohms.
