If Bill doesn't have a blog he should. This thread would be a perfect article for it. He can hand out his knowledge, cherry pick questions to answer, approve commenters and put up a ton of google ads and whatnot. Everyone would win. We'd get his info and Bill would operate in a stress free environment free of fools.

I'd certainly read it and happily buy tubes and whatnot off of whatever links he put on the page.

Interesting bit on DIY 6-meter antenna. Do you have any tube Ham transmitters? Like an old Hallicrafters? Are you using two grounding rods for your antennas? What is the regulation with those, in Sacramento?

Back to guitar amps. Too bad we won't see the step-be-step assembly, testing, and modifying --- which is so good about these Bluesky DIY's. I was going to suggest an 18-watt Marshall combo clone. I like those amps. Better than the bigger Bluesbreaker or Vox AC30's. The 18-watt has that distinct British tone. They are little bit easier to lug around compared to a Bluesbreaker. And are plenty loud enough.

I don't have any tube type radio gear as of yet,...but would like to have at LEAST one tube type transceiver such as a Yaesu FT-101EE or FT-102. My wire antenna does not require grounding at all,...nothing about that in the instructions that came with it. I live in Bluffton,IN.,...I have to check on regulations for the tower, but I know you have to seek some type of approval. Regulations are different from city to city,...state to state. Worst part is,..there are some HOA(Home Owner Associations) that just don't WANT antennas up in their neighborhoods at all. I read about those on http://www.qrz.com a LOT,...a ham radio site I also frequent. A radio buddy of mine has a Hallicrafters SR-400 Cyclone,...that is one cool radio. Collins KWM-2 rigs are also nice, but if you find one, they're NOT cheap.

Back to our guitar amps,...I would agree with you on the fact I would like to see more of Bill's amp builds as well. I miss his build threads! :)

KC9SYJ. I thought I saw KC6SYJ. I have no idea why I thought you were based in Sacramento. HOA's are a pain. HOA Nazis, if you ask me. Good luck with that antenna.

You might think differently if you had to look at those antennas day after day 24/7/365. I certainly wouldn't want one of those eyesores in proximity to my home!

+1 Retroverbial

A good HOA can help keep property values from dropping, due to neighbors with cars in the front yard, junk piles, unkempt yards, etc. Our HOA plows snow from our neighborhood streets while other neighborhoods are snow-bound, they take care of pond treatment, grass cutting at the entry to the neighborhood, and more. All of this is done for a very low annual fee, and I for one, appreciate not living in a run-down neighborhood.

I run HOA's for a living.

Anyone wishing an antenna (or dish receiver) can likely find FCC regs allowing their use. The only folks who have real problems are condo dwellers with limited common area space to place one.

Of course, few of those on the forum are likely to find condos suitable with electric guitars.
