Why does this seller (Hounddogcorp) seem to have several of these boards and DRRI boards on EBay? Where is he finding these extra PCBs?

Thanks!

They're not "extra"......they're pulls from existing amps.

Looks like someone is refashioning these contemporary models with upgraded eyelet boards and PTP-wired front panels a la Alessandro and TJ Adamowicz.

Arjay,

I see. Already an aftermarket P2P "fix." Wonder how the aftermarket 68 Custom DR is wired? You think to original AB763 standards?

Thanks!

At its price point, I'm certain that the VM '68 is all-PCB construction.

When I talked with my amp tech Saturday about my Bassman, and mentioned for him to keep an eye out for a Deluxe Reverb we got to talking about the new '68 reissue (he had two in the past couple of weeks to work on) and he was NOT recommending them and I believe he said they were all-PCB.

This does not inspire confidence for the allegedly-forthcoming VM Vibrolux Reverb.

:(

Perhaps if they'd been designed, engineered, and assembled correctly in the first place, he wouldn't have to.

Back in the day I owned Fender amps that played for ten, twelve, even fifteen years in some cases without the need for so much as a tube replacement. Today, you'd be extremely fortunate to buy a new one that didn't require some type of servicing or repair within fifteen months of purchase. Hell, some of them fail just sitting on the showroom floor at the local GC. Who wants to deal with that frustrating aggravation?

My old BLDX ran like a champ traded it for the twin it was just over a year old, no big deal though. Most people cant spring 3,000 on a handwired and I dont really want a used beat up amp;)

Yeah, me neither.

They look like artifacts recovered from Hiroshima, they smell like the backseat floor of a taxicab, and they sound like some wheezing Marlboro addict with COPD......

No, not because he doesn't want to work on them, he just feels they didn't do a good enough build job on the internals, and he has been working on these amps for 40+ years, so he has seen enough to make that call. And your message to him is TOTALLY uncalled for

That's what you took from that? Seriously?
