So I'm planning to get a '68 reissue deluxe, but I've never been a fan of the silverface look. Does anyone know if it's fairly easy to remove the drop edge and replace the faceplate with a blackface faceplate?

Just thought I'd ask. :)

I was never a fan of the Silverface look either, but I must say I love the look of my '68 CDR.

Give it while-it'll grow on ya....

Prolly because most ppl's first look at a Silverface amp, is a beat-up old soldier. New or in good shape, they hold their own against the Blackfaces. IMHO.

I'm basing my post on playing both a DRRI and a '68 Reissue..

There is no such thing as a '68 Reissue anyway, so comparing a real amp (DRRI) to an imaginary one is no contest.

Cool! Is that a real '68, or a new "68 Custom Twin Reverb" of the Vintage Modified series? Now, how about a picture of that "Twin" that you referenced earlier.

Check out the Reissue Series, they are cool also. I prefer the Blackface of the reissues compared to the Silverface of the Vintage Modified, but the Silverface are cool too.

I'm just not convinced that Celestion's were the right choice for the amp. I think something like Weber's 12F150 may have been a better sonic fit for the amp's intended mission.

Still diggin' my '68 Custom DR just the way it is. Changing it to a blackface isn't really going to make it any cooler.

Speakers sound just fine clean and dirty, was a little concerned first with dirt but after some hours in im loving it. I had a Eminence GB in my old blues deluxe and i find the new amp similar. The upper crunch is nice with my bogner blue and the twin very AC/DC marshall tones
