I am torn between the 1963 ReIssue Fender Vibroverb (brownface) that I currently own and play through (almost exclusively) and the old 1972 Fender Bassman Ten (silverface, master volume) that was lost in the Second Great Mortgage Payment Guitar and Amplifier Collection Massacre of 2001.

The Vibroverb wins in the sense of having great, great tone, excellent (almost perfect) vibrato/tremolo (whatever), a good reverb tank, portability, and gorgeous brownface/brown tolex/wheat grille cosmetics. It sounds equally great for both guitar and harmonica (both of which I play). It sounds great no matter what guitar I have plugged into it (my own G&L F100, Stratocaster, Telecaster, G&L Nighthawk and Danelectro DC3, as well as other borrowed axes such as an Epiphone semi-hollow humbucking machine, an old Les Paul Junior and others). It responds well to pedals.

Having said that, I miss that old 72 Bassman Ten. It had an oomph and gutsy tone that I've not heard from many other amps. The only criticism I ever had toward it was the weight (Lord, that thing was heavy) and the lack of a tremolo/vibrato and reverb circuit. It had a cool and funky patina (a real relic--not a relic'd new piece of equipment). It sounded better for guitar than it did for harp, but the harp sounds were still pretty dang good.

Good Vibes To Y'all... 8)

Twin Reverb

...although I once had a Music Man 212-HD130 that is a sentimental favorite. But I'll take the Twin first if it's a choice.

Well, should you really post this on a fender site? Although marshall full stacks were designed with strats and les pauls in mind. For tube tone, probably the fenders, but i like the sound of marshall because so many people play it and it sounds awesome!

For solid state, i would actually pick vox or marshall.

-The Screamin' J

Actually i wanna undo my vote and put other , because i want great sound, but i don't need an expensive amp.

Soldano SLO-100 with 5 options. Tons of variation in tones and power. Expensive though
