So, I bought a ToneMaster 4x12 cabinet in Surf Green Lizard Skin Tolex way back in 1996. It was in really good shape until a rodent chewed on it. So, now it looks like crap.

Fender does not carry the Tolex and they give no leads whatsoever on where to get it. I mean, really, CSR was NO HELP.

So, I reach out to the community-- Anyone know where to find a sheet of this?

Please, don't post "suggested" links. I've already searched high and low. If you know an EXACT link or phone number that actually HAS the covering, please post it.

Thx!

Having spent years in the theater business, my experience was after a few years any seating upholstery would be discontinued. If a few seats needed new covers, and I did not have spares, then all would get recovered so they match.

You may have to recover the cabinet in new covers.

Good luck. Hope someone can help.

+1 (with qualifications)

Generally true, Bill.

However, odd lots of unused materials periodically show up on Ebay. It's worthwhile to check there under "amp accessories" on a regular basis.

Thx, guys. I sent an email to customer support to share my dismay, but I have yet to hear from them.

I'll keep my eyes peeled. Maybe something will show up. I would hate to redo the cab in anything else, since that was its appeal to begin with.

Perhaps you shouldn't keep rats as pets.

Your dismay is understandable but I don't see that Fender bears any responsibility for your dilemma. That lizard skin Tolex was a limited-production material used for a couple of years only and they can hardly be faulted because it's no longer available eighteen years after the fact.

so, with that thinking, Chevy shouldn't be responsible to carry parts for older cars...

But, it does. Even with planned obsolescence, automakers do, in fact, warehouse parts for older cars.

Making a rarity, to me, is all-the-more reason to have some extra lying around. In the 80s when they weren't making the blonde amps, you could still order the covering from them for your 50s and 60s models.

PS: it wasn't rats. The drummer decided his kid could keep a rabbit in the same room where we practiced-- without a cage. The only thing it ate-- Surf Green Lizard Skin Tolex. LOL ;(

Sure they do -- for about seven years. That's the industry standard for all makes. After that, you're left to your own devices......J.C. Whitney, NAPA, Vato Zone, Rip Boys, etc.

Good luck flailing at those windmills, Señor Quixote.

+1000

It can get very difficult after 7 years unless you own a car that was wildly popular such as a 3rd generation Subaru Outback that sold like hotcakes virtually unchanged for 5 or 6 years.

Now let's say you got something less successful or an intentional limited production you will be in trouble when it comes to custom parts, fabric or finishes.

Good luck with any car approacing the age of your custom run amp. I would guess more car models are sold in any given year compared to a specific guitar amp.

Mercifully, this car was quite popular......

And thus far, I've been able to find virtually everything I need to keep it roadworthy though many of the cosmetic parts are now repro's made offshore.

Nothing says classic-era muscle car like a '69 Chevelle Super Sport in LeMans Blue.
