I've read in other forums that the Frontman is a nice practice/small gig amp for classic Fender clean... and for acoustic. Is true? The reason I'm asking is that I'd like to pair it up with my Variax which has some acoustic models.

I also have a custom model on the Variax where I drop the E and A an octave for bass lines while comping some jazz chords. Can it stay clean on those low notes?

Thanks in advance for any input. Since it's a used amp, it's not easy to find one to try out. Oh, and please don't recommend the Acoustasonic 150. Yeah, sounds like a good match, but I don't need that much amp (power, weight, size and cost)

I think the Frontman 25R could handle most of your expectations but using the octave-dropped E and A string simulator would give me pause. For that application alone I would recommend that you consider the Frontman 65R since it features a 12-inch speaker which would be less prone to farting out at low frequencies. Price-size, I think it would only be a few bucks more but I believe it may be money well spent.
