Hi - I am looking at picking up a Twin Reverb 65 Reissue, and was wondering if there is any difference with the wheat/blonde version?

http://www.zzounds.com/item--FEN0217300400

I like the look of the blonde better, but sound is the most important. Is it the exact same as the standard gray style found everywhere else? I wasn't able to find any other dealers (Sam Ash, Musician's Friend etc...) carrying this blonde version which seemed strange. I appreciate any input!

Thanks!

Tom

Hi RoseTCV,

Generally speaking, the LE amps have different cosmetics, sometimes a different speaker, and rarely will have a different tube or two, but the amp itself is the same as the standard versions. This LE TRRI seems to be the same amp, differing only in cosmetics and speakers.

This amp is issued with the same imported Jensen C12K's as the blackface version. It differs only in the cosmetics.

haha - I'm switching from a Mesa Roadster head with a Mesa 2x12 cab, so this will actually end up being a little lighter overall which is nice. (and less trips to the car)

And it looks like your right, Arjay - I can see the specs on this blonde version list the Jensen C12K's as the speakers.

Thanks again!

Overall weight may be lighter but you may still find yourself shopping for a set of removable casters (as did I). I have the standard blackface re-issue from 1999 which back then was shipped with the Eminence speakers. Mine's been rock-solid reliable since I purchased it in early 2001 and I've played perhaps four or five hundred gigs with it without issue. Tone was markedly improved by a speaker swap to JBL K120's and some creative tube-rolling. I also re-capped the filter stage and the bias supply with Sprague's in the interest of enhanced reliability.
