Hi, apologies if I've missed another post/thread in the same topic etc, I'm new.

Bought a Frontman 212R in January, absolutely beautiful amp and sounds amazing but now it seems after a relatively low volume it begins to have a distorted noise come into it - from what I can tell it sounds much like in this video:

Someone told me (an electrician) that it was probably condensation or some sort of liquid may have got into it, but it should dry itself out and be okay. A week later and it still hasn't done that, it gets a little better once its been on a while but not by much - not to a playable standard.

I keep it at a shared band room (probably not for much longer) so obviously I don't know exactly what's happened to it - someone may have done something with/without realising, though I find that unlikely (and no one should be using it, ideally anyway) or someone has spilled something on it - though again that's unlikely, no spill marks or anything, seems completely clean.

Anyone have any ideas on what it may be? I've seen a bit about overheating around, but no solutions or definite answers.

Oh, I live in the UK so I'm not sure about how guarantees work and if it is the same - I know there are no service centers here etc, so it may be similar in the case of a guarantee: no coverage. Can't remember if mine came with on or not, but do all amps carry a company warranty anyway? I'll have the paperwork somewhere, it's just finding it.

Cheers,

Wes

Thanks a lot, didn't see that before - I have been in touch with the main customer relations email address and I've contacted the shop that I bought it from - haven't heard anything back yet though.

Still it bugs me not knowing what it is, thank anyway though.

I REALLY liked my Frontman 212R's, but after two of them went south, I really appreciate the Fender warranty. I had brief exposure to the Champion 100. Again, a cool amp, but at this point my feeling is that unless you are going with a Fender tube amp, do yourself a favor and go Mustang. Whatever sounds you can get from any Fender solid state, you can get from the Mustang and so many more. The Mustang series, at least at this point is more reliable. I have had a IV V2 for about five months now and just got a used Mini (only available as a V1) and both perform flawlessly. By that I mean, they work without excessive static, hiss, fizz or rattle and when I turn them on I know what to expect.

Yes, on many occasions I wish I had not sold my mid-90's Blues Deluxe, but I am on a solid state budget.
