Hi, I've got a twin and I need a new footswitch, are there any alternatives i can use to this model? http://www.musiciansfriend.com/amplifie ... footswitch

It's a little pricey and i havent heard the best things about it, i know there are some 2 button 1/4 jack generic two button foot pedals on ebay but will this work for my reverb/vibrato?

thanks!

If you look for a vintage footswitch , you need one with 2 rca connector like your amp should have on the back , right ?
1/4 phone jack won't fit

You need this one ;

The amp is a re-issue, Stratele. All of them use a dual footswitch assembly wired with a ¼" stereo phone jack.

Some non-Fender brands *may* work but only those with passive switching, ie: no channeling diodes, LED's, or other components. The traditional blackface and silverface types are straight switches inside and nothing else.

A "Twin Reissue"? I'd like to see that. The '57 perhaps? :)

I was born in '59 and started playing in '72. All my life, "Twin" has been the colloquial term for the "Twin Reverb", later to include the "'65 Twin Reverb Reissue".

Of course that's caused massive confusion if you actually had a wide-panel "Twin Amp", a narrow-panel "Twin Amp", a high-power "Twin Amp", a blonde "Twin Amp", "The Twin" (red-knob Twin), a "Twin Amp" (Evil Twin) or a "Twin Amp" (Pro Tube Twin). Further layers of confusion there -- "The Twin" and both of the modern "Twin Amps" were part of the Pro Tube Series, some red-knobs had black knobs, some people call the red-knobs "Evil Twins".

Yes, when asking for help a person should be as precise as possible and call a Twin Reverb Reissue a Twin Reverb Reissue, but busting someone's balls for calling a '65TRRI a "Twin Reissue" seems a tad pedantic to me.

But like Arjay said, a generic fully passive footswitch with a stereo 1/4" jack will work.

If someone can't be specific about their amp name, then they deserve all of the ball-busting that comes with it.

It is also possible that the person who asks for help for something that seems so simple for us have not seen any of the utility to be very accurate.

In my point of view it can be quite normal even if it
offends our "expert " ears .

We must not blame him.

To some people, the Blackface/Silverface Twin Reverb (and the reissue) is the only "Twin" they have ever known. When I started playing in the mid sixties, the blackface was "IT." I had no knowledge of tweed amps other than they "looked" like beat up practice amps. No one was using them. But now, nearly 50 years later, I am fully aware of the various "Twins" that have been produced over the years and the pros and cons of each era. (did anyone mention the 65 Twin Custom 15?)

Just saying that maybe a little diplomacy whilst inquiring as to the age/era of the amp might be in order sometimes. (did the tweeds even have foot switches?)

By the time the Twin Reverb came around, the name was printed right on the front.
