Hey there. I have a problem with my BDRI with the jewel light. It always goes out after about 15 minutes during a gig and I've not managed to work out why! It doesn't affect sound in the slightest. If I turn the amp off for a few mins between sets it sometimes comes back on again before going off a few minutes later. I wondered if it was something to do with something overheating but it doesn't feel overly warm. Other that changing the bulb (which I've done) I'm not sure what to check out next.

Possible wiring issue or a cold solder joint on the lamp socket itself. It's not a problem with the power supply -- if it was, you'd lose the entire amp because the 6.3 VAC used to fire the pilot lamp is the same voltage that lights the heaters in all of your tubes.

Try to remove the bulb lamp and screw in place few times . if you are lucky it is only kind of oxydation and screw the bulb may clean it . You can sand lightly the end of the bulb base where is the lead. Or the bulb is defective , You nee a number 47 bulb ,
see Radio Shack (?)

Mine was starting to go dim and flicker if you turned the jewel bezel. It ended up being because the connection inside on the bottom was loose, just gave it a few turns to tighten it up.

Dim !!

It is the bulb or the contact inside the socket , dirty or something like that. Be carefull to NEVER turn the socket itself ( Jewel / bulbs"s socket ) you can make a short with the chassis /ground. You'll blow the fuse.

You can clean the "tip" end of the bulb with a soft sand paper .

Be sure to have the right fuse on your amplifier never more amperes that needed

The most common cause of dimming or flickering (that being the only problem), is that the bulb is not seated. Remove the jewel (which does screw in) to access the bulb. The bulb does not screw in, just push down and about a quarter-turn to the right to fully seat. It can be difficult to actually get that quarter-turn with only your dry fingers.
