I checked the reverb cables and they are OK. The only thing I did there was clip a resistor (R103 I think, could be wrong).

The search is on for the mysterious ground loop.

Common mod and should have nothing to do with your issue.

I still haven't located the problem yet. When I pull on the shielded cable going from the main pcb to v1 and rest it on the pcb (so it is being pulled tight and held in place by the board ) the hum goes away. I decided to just leave it like that for a while so I can just play my guitar and forget about the amp for a while. Sounds good except when I strum really hard there is a strange fizzy type buzz. I turn the volume of the amp to zero and strum hard and that noise is still passing to the speaker. Any thoughts on this? Still related to a grounding issue?

Kind of going crazy at this point.

I think you need to address one problem at a time. Fix the hum first.

The only shielded cable in the amp is the black cable for the reverb, there should be ribbon cables connecting the main board and tube socket boards. Pulling on the cable and the hum goes away, that still sounds like you have a poor solder joint(s).
