I think speaker change or any change from factory stock is a mod. How bout any one else ? cheers j

OK. But, then isn't changing a good tube for a noisy one a mod, too? Not all mods are bad. You put non-Fender strings on your Fender guitar, right? I guess that could be considered a mod. Putting pedals in front of an amp are mods.

Besides, chasing the tone is the name of the game. Whether it's guitar mods, various pedal setups, or modifying the amp. If done correctly, these should enhance the tone. Eventually.

A fun persuit, for many. :D

+1

Not sure I understand the point of the OP. I certainly don't need any clarification of the term "mod".

the point was many have said these small changes arnt mods, in particular, many here who like to do them, I am not against any changes or mods , believe firmly a lot of these will enhance and improve sound and reliability, just like to call them what they are- replacing tubes that have failed or are worn wouldnt classify as modification but service, properly wiring a 6v6 where a 6l6 was intented would be a mod .....maybe even changing a white knob for black one would classify  cheers j

Some here like semantics, and if you want to play, you can be drawn into a never-ending maze of circular logic.

IMO, any change can be considered a mod. Stickers on your guitar, a new speaker in an amp, even mag wheels on your car, all can be considered mods.

It's been posted that it's only a mod if you have to use a soldering iron. Well, that definition would cover speaker changes in some amps, yet exclude the clipping of a component from the circuit. :?:

The definition of a professional simply means that they are paid for their services, but the implication is a higher standard.

What the he!! is a sanitation technician, or a sales engineer? :?

What's in a name? How about the Mod Squad? I don't think that they ever modified anything.

This seems like a rather useless thread.

Sorry you feel that way, but to be honest, a newbie coming here and defining to this group what is or isn't a mod is nothing but a troll post.
