Can anyone suggest or know of a delay unit that works well in the effects loop of a Supersonic 22?

I currently have the Boss Space Echo which I love the sound but does not play well in this effects loop. It sounds okay in front of the amp playing clean but not good with the burn channel. I will buy a rack unit if I need to but would certainly prefer a stop box if there is one that will handle a line level effects loop. Thanks for any help or suggestions.

I'm kind of curious about this as well. I have the Eventide H9. Some of the effects works well with the 22, some don't.

I used a Deluxe Memory Man in my SS100 Effects loop and it sounded great, but that doesn't help you because the SS22 has an op-amp driven effects loop as apposed to my SS100 Tube driven one.

The problem may be the return level from your effects unit over-driving the op-amp as it goes back into the signal chain.

The effects loop chain comes after the CLEAN/BASSMAN and BURN CHANEL and before the REVERB. So it is ideally suited for ECHO & REVERB pedals. Modulation and Distortion pedals may work better in the front of the amp.

Another thing to take note of is that the effects loop is a WET&DRY signal loop, meaning your effects unit must send out the WET&DRY MIX back into the amp, and not just the WET as some people may think.

The effects loop in the SS 22 is after the reverb, just before the PI. Once you switch the loop on, there is no more "dry" signal, as the effect loop is series, so yes, the loop is only "wet". You only have a dry signal with the loop switched off (maybe this is what you meant?). The reverb itself has separate wet and dry signals that are mixed, as the reverb is parallel to the dry signal.

You might try a 5751 in V4, the second half of V4 feeds the loop op-amp, the first half of V4 is the reverb recovery.

Hi Hsiden, the TC Electronic Nova Repeater works great, try it and you'll be amazed my friend.

Cheers, G.

Thank you for the tips. I also wrote to TC Electronics asking the same question because I was interested in the Nova Delay unit. They agreed with you and said that their Nova delays would work well, so I think I may give this one a try. I appreciate all the responses. This really helps. My Roland Space Echo should be on Ebay soon!

Geez, Shimmi you are so right. I was going on memory here which was so wrong of me. I stupidly assumed that the SS22 at least had the same circuit structure as my SS100, but clearly Fender have called what is the "PRE-AMP OUT" and "POWER-AMP IN" on the SS100 the "EFFECTS LOOP" on the SS22. That sucks for the SS22 owners as they now cannot get the Amp Reverb to color the overall effects in their chain. I suppose that ain't an issue for some.

Hey, I didn't exactly have it committed to memory, I had to look at the schematics.

Looks like the 100 is more versatile, the switchable effects loop before the reverb, while the pre-out and power-in are after the reverb. Fender isn't consistent with the arrangement, the HRDlx pre-out/power-in loop places the effects before the reverb when the loop is used.
