All, just wanted to let you all know of an issue I had at a gig a couple of weeks ago. I plugged in my footswitch to cable to the amp and when I went to check to see if the channels were working I got nothing, no lights on the footswitch and no lights on the amp for either the Fat or Burn channel. I unplugged the cable from the back of the amp and still no lights on the front of the amp. I was able to play that night but only one channel, thank God. Here is what was discovered. The Cable was bad and it fried two resistors rendering the amp to play on one channel. Once the resistors were changed out, and all the channels worked properly (Fat/Burn), the tech plugged in the cable and it fried both resistors again. They replaced both resistors and it is working fine now. I have a new cable but am afraid to use it ever again. I also noticed a faint burning smell from the back of the amp that night, it was from the resistors frying. They gave me the resistors and they smell exactly like what was coming from the amp that night.

If you are having the same issue then that is what is wrong. Think the seven pin cable was a bad idea from Fender.

Agreed. Your tech made the mistake not Fender. What else were they supposed to use? Cables go bad sometimes.

Right....remember the footswitch is changing 4 functions so standard cable wouldn't do.

Had the same problem on a SS Twin. Sure, cables go bad. But they should not take the amp with them causing $180 repair costs and rendering the amp 4/5 useless for the show - no rev, no loop, no burn channel, no fat switch.
This is the same thing as if a broken guitar cable would cause your preamp to fry.
This is bad design, imho.
