in another thread, I mentioned that I would be looking for a new tube amp this summer. many great responses from you all, and I appreciate it.

it got me wondering- do many of you use your existing combo amp as an extension speaker? this way I could get a small amp head- 20 watts or so-disconnect the speaker cable from the combo, hook up the tube head, and in event of a problem with the tube head, I have a spare amp ready.

I currently have a peavey bandit silver stripe with an eminence texas heat speaker. this may be another way to go. any thoughts?

I've done both, Used a head on a combo cab, and used a combo as a head... driving bigger speaker cabs.

Either or, any port in a storm!
If it is what you have then use it!
