I decided after playing the SCX2 again the other day it is way good enough to keep. No Craigslist for the X2.......

Good to hear, plus it doubles as a home and cab for the lil buddy.

I haven't played the meister through the lil buddy yet. It is on my plans for today. And while playing, a trip across the room to play it through CRex, again, will have to be in order as well.

The SCX2 is a great little grab and go machine. I was gonna look for an all analog tube amp in a similar size but what the heck, I already have the SCX2 and it does what it does well enough. Nowhere near the tone of the HRD/C-Rex, but better than many others......(Of course tone is subjective to each individual)

It is amusing to have someone with the same identically setup amps. Not counting tubes.

I agree. I have the same setup. HRD lll w/CRex. The tone is really amazing. Playing that amp and then going right to the SCX2 is not advised.

Otherwise, the X2 is one great amp for the money.

I played the HRD/C-rex every day for a week or so after installing the speaker, this was before booting the SCX2 and playing it and I was sure surprised at how the difference was, so I tweaked the bass and trebs a little bit on the X2 , and brought it more towards my new found taste in tone. Both are still good amps, the HRD is a great amp and the X2 is a good amp......I have owned many amps, 4 boogies, vintage Fenders of all sizes, Peaveys, Marshalls, Music Man, Seymour Duncan, and others, and my all time favorite is the simple little cheapo HRD.....

After pulling part of my speaker off I decided to get a cab. GC has the Egnater Tweaker 112x for $175. Works nice. FYI.

Just got through playing the Meister for a while through my CRex tonight. What a great sound. Made me forget the speaker wasn't broken it yet.

It gives that 5 watts some serious "grapes".

That is one great sounding amp. The 12BH7 is a great tube. 9-pin version of the 6SN7GT. But, it's those irons! Man, talk about over-engineered. That's where the tone lies. Friend just got one of Germany. Just for the bedroom. It's now used as THE studio amp.

BTW.. just to put a bug in your ear, think GE 12BH7A. Relatively Cheap NOS. :D

Enjoy!

The bug is in my ear. I'll keep an eye on that. :D

Yes, the iron in this box is huge for its size. I find the tone very pleasing. Which I'm sure has to do with the tube and the iron but, the push/pull way the use the two triodes gives it the smoothness of a 2x6v6 A/B amp, instead of skankier type A tone. I get the skank I need from P-90's  The redbox out delivers great tone for recording. The sound has serious mojo.

I am very happy with my purchase.

I swapped out the 12ax7B China tube and tried a GT I had. Lost some volume but, I really like the tone better. So, the GT stays for now. I have two other 12ax7's to try. A TS and a Preferred Series. They are both in other amps, so it may be a while before they get tried out.

Not sure I'd agree...

It's not an either/or proposition for many...

I can afford any amp I want... an enviable position for many musicians to be sure...

But, for many, there is a significant difference between spending $129.00 & $300.00.

I think there a place for both of these amps and each has merit !!

It's wonderful living in a World w/ so many choices...

I love my Bugera... but just may have to pickup a Tubemeister as well... 8)

cheers!

Well made points there, Lightnin. My sense of humor might have made my words harsher than intended. I do not regret buying the Bug or owning it. I have more hours on that amp than any other one. I have space considerations and finding a new home for the Bug is in order. Mine had no defects and the reverb always worked as well as it was capable of. The next owner will have a dependable amp. It is in like new condition.

Now, about the Tubemeister. It takes the personal amp concept to new highs, IMO. I like the EQ a lot, the three play nice with each other. I am playing with EQ for each song in a way that either never occurred to me before or were not available. Also, unlike the class A of the Bug, this amp works a more A/B effect. The 100 dollar savings at Sweetwater called to me. I am glad it did.

I like a good deal. :D

Just saw that Sweetwater is out of the 5 watt tubemeister. It says more are coming. Still at 299.99. :D
