Here is my latest amp adventure, after taking my BJr to a rehearsal one night and hearing how good it could sound through my C-Rex equipped extension cab that I used with my other amp Heads, I made up my mind to turn it into a head also and give it a new lease on life instead of languishing in the back of the cupboard unused. I approached another forum member (IM4Tone) after seeing a cabinet he had had built by Mather Amp Cabinets. I already had a great sounding Extension cab that was in constant use with my other amps so I decided the BJr would get a cosmetic matchup to the Blonde/Wheat cab. I found out the basic details from IM4Tone and after a few emails back and forward between Peter Mather the details were squared away.

The Head cab build is second to none, overall I am very happy with how this turned out, the amp sounds great through the cab, still easy to move around and looks way better for my taste.

IM4Tone, thanks again for your help with my project, Peter Mather (Mather Amp Cabinets) comes highly recommended and I would encourage anyone considering a cabinet for any amp setup to give him a holler. He's very friendly and customer oriented and backs it up with superb workmanship, we'll worth supporting guys like him.

Here she is.

That is stunning. Real eye candy. Ear candy too, I'm sure. :D

I am a real fan of the CRex. I got it stock in my FSR HRD III. An awesome speaker.

Great looking rig, Snowy. Typical high quality job by Peter Mathers, and a perfect match as well.
Resembles it's older brother.........but more glamorous! Wonder if Blondes have more fun. :?:

Thanks all.

Modwiz, you are right the C-Rex is a fantastic speaker and it just gets better and better as it gets played more, the one I have has a lot of high volume hours on it and every amp I own sounds great through it. Even the Trinity Tramp Head I built (5W 6V6 switchable to 10W 6L6) sounds huge through that cab/speaker.

I have really fallen for the Head/cab thingo now, so easy to just switch between amp flavours and have a spare amp on hand. Heck, I find putting 2 Heads in the car is easier than heaving around just one large combo, or even two large combos, which I have done more than I care to remember because I hate not having a backup ready to go.

Great one-off amp! Wonder if he's ever done an old Vibro-Champ head DIY? I have some amp chassis lying about... :D

Love that rough Blonde look.

There's an Ebay vendor who seems to offer Champ/Vibrochamp head shells on a regular basis. All pine, finger-joined corners, valence, rear panels, the works. Looks like a quality box to me and not too terribly expensive.
