Hi everyone,

A question about a good starter amp. Recently, I've taken up playing the guitar. In my youth I messed around, but never got serious. At forty I would like to try again.

At the moment I am using a MIM Fender Roadhouse Strat. that I picked up a few weeks ago. I simply love this guitar and want to learn how to play some great tune on it. Unsure, I picked up a 15watt amp from Line 6 (the Spider III). For me it is a great little practice amp with some cool little affects. Honestly though, I wouldn't mind a straight up amp with a bit more power.

Today I checked out a Frontman 65r on clearance for $179 It sounded fine for my purpose and had the things I was looking for. I did look at the nice Mexican made tube amps. They looked sweet and have heard that the sound is awsome. The steep price does keep me at bay.

I would like to stay within the Fender line (I'm on a Fender kick). Can anyone give me any advice?

Mike

Hello Cygnus X-1,

Gret price for that amp around
these parts your looking at $269.

I had a Frontman 25r for about a decade
never had a problem but recently "loaned"
it to a freind I think I'll be getting it back----never.
So that 65r is looking good to me one of these days.

90% of the time I use my Blues Jr but those
frontmen have excellent clear as glass clean.

Cheers.

I got a frontman 65 watt!!! It is just awesome.. It is my first "REAL" amp. It's sound is phenomenal, crispy clean sound with added reverb if you want to and a overdrive/gain channel for all sounds within chuck berry style gain to metallica. Also, the Mid-Contour button does it's job very well. It gives you that... ehm, more sustained distortion tone. Above all... GREAT AMP!
