If you get a silverface amp now, you will pay through the nose! That is a real shame! I have two and, they both rock. I'm a man of much great music gear. I've seen the market get beyond terrible! It is not fair to those new to getting great tone! I got a great deal on both my silverface amps. When I go to music stores and, I see used ones I say OUCH!!!

I have a 74 SF Champ that's sounds great. I installed a Weber Signature Series speaker in it and it was a huge improvement. I paid $150 for mine 20 years ago. You see Silverface Champs going for around $350-450 depending on condition.

I'd look at the VHT Special Six Ultra. It's an amazing amp that I tried out, not too long ago. It has tons of tonal variations, is hand wired, has a variable watts control, effects loop, extension speaker jacks and on top of that, It sounds great and is around four hundred bucks. They have the original Special Six that has stripped down features, but is still hand wired.

Jet City makes some nice stuff too, as well as Peavey. Ibanez has a nice little 5 watt Combo that has a Tube Screamer Built into it. Try a bunch of amps out and see what suits you. If you're hany with a soldering iron, MOD Kits DIY has a sweet little 5 watt amp kit. I built one and it sounds great. It's only like $215.00 and sometimes they run a 10% off sale.

300.00 will get you this sweet amp. Got it yesterday and it sounds great. The red box makes recording a snap. Grab some plywood and make a cab with a favorite speaker and one is good to go. My amps are in my signature but, this one might become my go to amp. Here is a picture of it sitting on top of my computer tower with my Lexicon on top of it. It lets me play through headphones or record. The clean and drive are both great. I am not a drive kinda guy usually. I was groovin' big time in drive and was getting great sounds. Touch sensitivity was better than anything I have yet experienced.
