I have a Blues Deluxe RI. I usually only gig with it, as I have other amps in my studio that I also use. I played a gig with it about a month ago, and after bringing it home, I must have plugged it in, but assumed it was off (it had the cover still on). I went to move it today, and when I went to lift it, I could see the red light on from beneath the cover. I removed the cover and noticed it was on, but on Standby.

I don't know how long it was on, but I have to assume about a month. Man, I'm an idiot. I tried playing thru it for a few minutes, and all seemed well. But after about 10 minutes, I heard a humming sound coming thru the amp. It still played, but had the humming sound as well. When I switch back into Standby, it went away. It also smells like something is hot. Not necessarily burning, but hot (does that make sense?).

Wondering what damage I did to my favorite amp. Power tube damaged?

Any help or insight would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Dave

I'm thinking more along the lines of a filter cap that has finally cooked off and boiled away its electrolyte.

Wow! I think you win the prize. Sorry. Like Arjay said, the amp needs to be looked at by a good tech. I try to pull the plug, before I cover the amp.
