Greetings all here at Fender Lounge hope everyone is having a fine day/eve/.
My question is pretty straight forward, being the proud new owner of a Champion '600' amp, I am unsure what is the best procedure for using it regarding the on/off switch.
Here is the scenario, I have been wood-shedding, a lot as I have a bunch of time off, so I thought what better way to use it than get my chops back where they used to be. I decided to try one of these new fangled 5 watt'rs, and could not be happier, I stick my RP155(v2) in front of it and I don't know if I just got a good one or what but the thing just sounds awesome(mine came stock with aftermarket EH 6v6 ?), it does only have a six inch speaker so you have to be realistic about that, but at practice levels, jamming with the stereo, it is awesome.
My only complaint and the point of this post is the lack of standby switch.
I play all day, amp gets turned on first thing in the morn these days, and I am unsure if I should just leave my amp on the whole time or switch it off every time I am not going to be using it directly ?
AS I understand there is a standby switch mod that can be done to it, anyone able to shed any light on that ?
Thanks in advance for any and all comments.

Just turn OFF when finish playing if it is for more than 15 minutes .

There are no rule but your amp is Class A this mean power output tube work hard all the time amp is ON . Playing or not .
Switch OFF is the best IMO.

Strandby switch ? No , this not worth the cost . If you have a friend who is electronic tech and install for free , why not .
You can use only one switch to power ON and Standby . No need another hole in the amp .
Carling switch made this switch;

Yeah, don't leave a tube amp on, idling for hours --- with or without a standby switch.

If it's any consolation, I have an old 74 Champ and none of those amps had standby switches and I just changed out what appears to be the original power tube (I bought the amp used). Don't worry about a standby switch, just like everyone else said, turn it off when you're not using it.

Here's a really interesting article on the subject:

Stand-by Switches

As is the nature of opinion, some are going to agree, others not.

But there is some learning to be had.

cheers!
