" Two 6V6 output tubes "

Can't be. To get 35 watts. Unless they are running in Class B.

This is interesting. The BF is 35W, but with 2x6L6GC.

This amp disappeared from Sweetwater's site! Had it on my wish list. Wonder what happened.

It was on display at last week's NAMM show.

It looks like a great amp! I noticed it's also off the Sweetwater display of new stuff from NAMM. I figured the '68 Custom Twin, Deluxe, and Princeton were based on their '65 reissue counterparts and used the same cabinets and lots of the same parts. I wondered if the '68 Vibrolux might be a brand new creation or based on the ProTube Vibrolux. Either way it seems like it might be more difficult to get together than the other three. I hope it comes out - I'd love to get one!!!

+1

Looks like the MIB came around, zapped everyone involved in the project with a neutralizer, then beamed themselves and all remaining evidence back to Groom Lake......

I ordered the 68 Custom Vibrolux Reverb from one of the online distributors the day it was announced at NAMM. I had an order in already for the 68 Custom Deluxe Reverb which was/is on back order. I called and switched the order for the Vibrolux which I believe will be better suited for my playing/recording needs. The Vibrolux like the Deluxe is on back order, and they cannot guarantee a delivery date until Fender starts shipping them.

I inquired as to why the delay. The rep said Fender originally issued the 68 custom series amps, and then after some customer feedback, is working to 'refine' them so they are top notch problem free, and great sounding. On other forums I have read where some of the early buyers of the 68 custom deluxe amps were having feedback problems with the reverb settings at 4 and higher. The rep went to great length to explain that Fender really wants the product to be 'perfect' before shipping at higher volumes.

So my interpretation of the Vibrolux vanishing act is Fender is firming up the product design before mass marketing and shipping. I have all the confidence in the world that it will be a great amp, and in a strange way I am more confident of my purchase knowing they want to get this right before shipping in mass quantities.

Hope that helps.

Let's hope you're right, dangtunes. I'm really interested in the amp. Hell......I might even buy one.
