I play mine around 4 on the amp's volume,and 4 to 6 on the guitar's volume control and I get very nice sound out of my HRD III. The owner,...as everyone else has said,...needs to crank this amp to 4 or more as it WANTS to perform,...it ain't going to at volumes of "2" or lower! Unless the tubes are going bad,...there's no need to change them. Crank that baby up!
