Working on a Blues Junior amp today, set the Bias and got to wondering why the heck Fender hasn't ever fixed this issue. It wouldn't cost a cent of difference to correct. Substituting a resister on the production line (change R52 from 22k to 27k) would be the total requirement to get the bias into a ballpark of 70% dissipation, instead of 100+%, I mean they substitute the Tolex colours and speakers every second week  The tubes would last longer, the amp would sound nicer and the removal of that extra heat from the hot bias would also extend the life of the circuit board, mounted sockets and soldering. Win/Win all around.

I'll shut up now....

Snowy.

That's the last thing that FMIC wants.

I suspect you may be right Arjay. It's also weird in that context that they consistently Bias the DRRI colder than a Mother In-law's kiss, maybe the Fender Bean Counters need to revisit that one. Sometimes it's like they haven't actually got a clue anymore.....

I'm with you Snowy. I have wondered what the thinking is behind such a hot bias in this particular amp, and only this amp. :x

Because it has the word Blues in its title.
