Hey all, Hopefully this is something stupid like user error. My Vibro Champ XD was working fine since I bought it. All of a sudden it kinda just stopped working. I say kind of because if I plug headphones into the line out in the back it works fine. I just dont get any output from the speaker. As far as I can tell, this started happening when I used the line out for the first time.

1. When plugging into the line out is it supposed to bypass the speaker or run in parallel? I ask because my Carvin amp bypasses for silent recording.

2. could there be a problem with the line-out jack itself where it isn't re-engaging the speaker circuit when the headphones are unplugged?

3. I checked the connections to the speaker and all looks fine there. What steps should I go through to troubleshoot this?

Any help would be appreciated.

Mike

Your first troubleshooting step would be to review and understand the schematic diagram:

The line out is separate from and has no impact on the speaker operation. The line out is not a headphone output.

Just a guess but I'd replace the 6V6 to start with since it powers the output, if it's had it that would explain no output from the speaker. The digital section would still be feeding a signal to the line-out and that scenario would correspond to the symptoms you describe.

Was hoping to make this a "teaching moment". There's also a 12AX7 driver tube that could be bad.

Thanks guys. I'll try swapping tubes.

Bill,

LOL, I did look at the scematic before posting but since I know exactly nothing about electric circuts, I might have well have been looking at the schematic for the toilet on the space shuttle. It took me 20 minutes to decipher where the output jacks were for the line out and the speaker so I threw in the towel.
