I've only tried one out at GC today. The tone was not as impressive as my Made in Brea issue with the tweed covering. If that was not bad enough, this thing was a hum monster! These things go to 12 ( Sorry Nigel!!) and, mine does not have any noise period! How have they managed to take such a bitchen circuit and, mess it up this way? This thing hums in the same fashion that my second Epiphone VJ combo version 1 did! The VJ had a better tone however! These things originally had awesome tone and were very noise free! Fender, Are you reading this? I'm sharing this here on mylespaul forum. I plan on copying my thread here and, putting it on Fender Lounge. Any of you who have actual experience with these, please feel free to express your insight on PJs in general.

I had a Pro Jr myself once, not a version 3 or original, something in between, it hummed, so I sent it back. It sounded great but it hummed loud enough so's I did not want it in my house or studio. I sent it back as defective and the vendor paid the return shipping. I would sure like to have something like that, but it needs a full tone stack and no hum.......

Mine sounds outstanding! That is why it pisses me off that they are selling these for twice what I got mine for brand new in the box! It should not be hit or miss with Fender products! These are some strange days in gear right now. There is some great gear and, some of the reissue stuff that is priced double to three times more hisses, buzzes, hums and pops. Fender WTF are you doing? Quit sucking $@! PR wise and tighten down on the quality control! Don't turn this into CBS Musical in the late 70s again! Even the worst from that era blows away some of the junk you're overcharging for now! OK I'll be nice, yes I do like the Exclusive GC Stratocasters I tried out earlier today. You know, the one with the fat 70s head stock! You boys did good on these MIA issues! Nice tone! This is the guitar I used to demo the MKIII PJ. Guess what, the amp sucked! When I plugged the Strat into an Orange Dark Terror, it rivaled all the guitars in the store all of a sudden! Fender get your act together I still love you. Juan!

Mine is a III , it's a little noisy . A couple of things I did to deal with it was to use a better quality instrument cable and to not stand real close to the amp . Also , having a guitar with single coils plugged in produced some noise , most noticeable when standing close , changing body position , or , the angle you are standing in relation to the amp changed the level of noise ( hum ). The only time it is even a little bit annoying is when the amp is idle , when you are not playing. I live with it , having discovered ways to lessen the amount of hum.
I really like this amp ! , it's light , so simple , and lot's of attitude !

You're right about how close you are with the instrument and single coils also. When idle mine appears to be off. Yes, it is that quiet! All of them should be that way! I wish Fender would do something about that. The tone on the PJ III I tried out was no where like my 94 PJ. I bet they could make them all sound closer to that, if Fender RD chose to do it.

I dont have mine that long and the first time it plugged into it it had a hum. I was just going to send it back.

I tried it again with a different cable. I was using a pedal and I thought that may have had something to do with it too. I plugged straight into it with the better cable and had no problem.

Lots of things can cause hum. Your lighting. What you have plugged into you outlets. Single coils will pick up on this and got hake even more noise of hum.
