Isn't it a good idea for a company to offer an inexpensive amp that might be good for those who probably won't expose said amp to the same kind of treatment that Ned Beatty received in Deliverance? Only time will tell if any amp can withstand such a squealing treatment.

Could you get around to uploading some photos? Sound bite would really be nice.

Thanks!

I don't know, I saw an Excelsior in a music store and got it as a total impulse buy, and I really like it. Everything about it works perfectly (more than I can say about the first few new '68 Deluxe Reverb VM's I tried). I have a couple of old Gibson Hawk amps with the reverb separate from the volume control and it is a very cool sound! I'd be really interested in the Vaporizer (the red would match a number of vintage keyboards I play), but it does look just a little too silly. It doesn't really look like a cool '60's amp, it looks like a weird parody of a '60's amp.

So we are off the amp topic and on to whos bigger? I am sorry I am not a old man and have been playing out since the 50's, but in the short 20 years I have been gigging for cash, I have probably logged in more than 3000 gigs and have toured across America recorded in 3 different states, including Chicago with Steve Albini. I have also been part of the northeast music conference in Tennesse. Oh and have opened for many national acts, and if you are ever in Cleveland ohio any day of the week, you can probably see me playing in town! So if there is any doubt about if I have ever played I gig? I think I have answered the question?!

Well I don't gig but I know tone and I know what sounds good... based on the couple of vids you posted, I probably wouldn't walk into a bar in Cleveland if I heard that playing or tone! Even if it was ladies night

Anywho... keep up the good work and hope your new amp lasts another 3000 gigs. And no, you still haven't answered the question...

BTW, here's how you're supposed to play a Flying V...

The Excelsior is now down to $200 retail (GC, brown model). It seems clear that the intro price of these were too high.

I expect the Ramparte and Vaporizer to follow suit, before being discarded. My guess is that neither of these will be available anymore a couple of years from now. Which is almost a shame. The Excelsior isn't half bad sounding. I still wouldn't want a Chinese non-serviceable amp, but it's probably worth the current price.

Mighty tasty, CB!

That's the first time I've heard your "V".

Which amp -- Deluxe, Vibrolux, or Super?

RAWK ON!

You know, I think I recorded this before I saw the light... I think at the time I was playing thru a Mesa Boogie Lone Star Special.

But the V thru the SR is heavenly!!! I can't wait to try it thru the Vaporizer when I get one!

Funny thing with that Vaporizer is that the cabinet design interferes with the outside edges of the speaker cones. Could be part of the problem I had getting decent tones out of it. Carr has some funky cabinets, but I haven't seen them cover many of the speaker.

Whenever function follows form, the end result is usually problems. That's why Leo was such a genius -- he recognized such folly.

At their price point I would expect them to get everything right. Cute amps, tho. I want one now.

Very nice Albert, there. Now, to be a REAL guitarist, can you do that left-handed? I mean anybody can do it right-handed.

I remember a video of a concert where Albert actually flipped the guitar from left to right hand, in the middle of a song. The thought of trying to figure out the chords, on the fly, from that manuever baffled my little brain. :D

Left-handed, no, but I do play it upside down with Albert's weird tuning :)
