Well its funny you mentioned that, I have played through many a vintage amps and guess what they all without exception needed the work of a amp tech! A early 70's fender twin that did nothing but get real scratchy when turned up, a Princeton that couldn't be heard over a bong player, and old fender bassmans that were so farty sounding I just cringed at them.

You didn't answer the question... have you ever owned a real Fender amp? Lemme guess, those vintage amps you claimed you played through, was that at your local GC? So what you're telling me is that you never played through a vintage amp that works so you can really hear what it's supposed to sound like and do a proper comparison? You never owned one for many years and drove it around and hardly had an issue with it?

I just did a whole night even let other players jam through the vaporizer and it sounded great no problems and everyone liked it a lot! and wanted to know where to get one. I am not trying to tell you you have to buy one I am just saying how pleased I am with it. very happy with it!

Wow! Everyone??? That's impressive! glad it worked out for you!

So everyone loves the new Vaporizer and all vintage amps sound like crap and don't work, got it!

 No, I seriously doubt he ever owned or gigged with an old Fender. I gigged my Twin for 30 years and it never needed a repair ever. I only lost a preamp tube once. I re-tubed it and re-capped it right before I sold it just to be fair to the new owner. I never throw my gear around. If you take care of it, it will take care of you. When you go to GC and look at these old amps, they're beat to death and never taken care of. They're used up and usually full of problems. My Vibrolux Reverb went 25 years and only had filter caps replaced. It was stolen in the early 90's. That was gigged really hard. Power tubes were changed once by the TV guy across the street. He worked for GE. Now that I know that the Vaporizer sounds better than so many vintage amps and lasted through one whole gig and everyone played through it, I better run out and buy one.

You know me, supro......I'm always the contrarian when it comes to fads and trends.

You can buy two because I won't be needing one.

Anyone make a Vaporizer kit?

Yeah, you can find them at Radio Shack.

A Vaporizer kit is a cell phone accessory?

(Or haven't you been to Radio Shack lately? The last time I was there, I thought I had walked into the wrong store. Even more so when I asked the guy there for some flux free solder, and he looked at me like I had two heads.)

The days of being able to replace every part in a Curtis-Mathis TV set or a Zenith console stereo with stuff bought at Radio Shack are long gone.

For grins a while back, I took an old Radio Shack "LIFETIME GUARANTEED" 6L6GC to our local store and insisted upon a replacement since the tube was no longer working. The snot-picker behind the counter gazed at it for a couple of minutes, responded with a totally vacuous stare, then asked "WTF is that?".

YOU guys are hilarious! I done trying to tell you my opinion because obviously it doesn't matter, evern though I have probably played more gigs that you guys combined. As for the vintage fender amp, nothing wrong with them if you want a relic, and are stupid enough to pay for one! PLEASE DONT BUY A VAPORIZER I BEG YOU! Stick to your hand build expencive amps, everyone has a different sound they are looking for. I really like what the vaporizer can do, and its in a nice little package. But even though I have some expencive guitars and have owned many of amps, I don't ever bring out the good stuff unless its a special event. There is no gig you need a 2000 dollar amp a 5000 dollar guitar and 3000 dollars worth of pedals! If you do there is something wrong with you!!!!

Lets recap.

1 person has actually seen and heard this amp.
There are a total of 5 u2be videos featuring this amp and three are from the guy above who immediately dismisses the quality of the video by claiming to be a triangle player.
People love the styling.
People hate the styling.
The very fact that Fender made this amp is a sign the company is in decline.
The very fact that Fender made this amp is a sign that the company is serving all niches.
It probably isn't built as well as amps from 50 years ago.
Things were built better back in the day.
Amps sometimes need repair.
This thread has caused someone to utter the words "curtis mathis" for the first time in 30 years.
The triangle player has played more gigs than the photographer and the curmudgeon combined.

or

I've learned nothing in 11 pages of this stuff and am just going to go buy a blackstar.

Yup, we're hilarious and stupid, thanks for the kind words.

Relic? Does this look relic to you???

or this?

You still haven't answered the question... so we'll just assume that you have no experience whatsoever with vintage Fender amps. That's ok, no need for you judge these precious amps to make you feel better about your new amps. Enjoy them and play the crap out of them.

if I buy this one http://www.ebay.com/itm/1964-Fender-Vib ... 4acdfe287a Can I be cool like you guys?

besides all of you are missing the big picture, you are all talking about amps made before 1985 and this frum is 1985 amps and newer, so if you are going to compare the vaporizer to any other fender amp it has to be one that was made after 85!!!!!

I only have. 2 amps built before 1985 a 64 princton amp and a 1970 super reverb how ever I gig with a 1990 50 Bassman ri. Or a soldano. I also have a 94 twin a ergnator tweeker 15 that sounds fantastic and a few more. Amps that went to the junk heap were a g-dec which was a piece of garbage a champ xd.

Your sure have issues with people having opinions other than yours. You should get over that and thinking you've played more gigs than these old men who are giving there well respected opinion here kinda proves you don't have any idea what your talking about.

Were are happy your enjoying your new amp just get over yourself.
