Post subject: Frontman 15G help for a newbie

I could fiddle with this amp all day and not get anything close to what I want.

What knob settings would I use on the amp and the guitar and the amp to get a little distortion. I know I'm asking a lot of the amp but I'd like to practice a few riffs just for fun.
My lessons do not start until the 5th ..

Turn up the "gain" control and adjust the master volume knob for appropriate loudness.
