I recently got a Super-Sonic 112 combo and I love it! I'm considering adding the SS 212 cab extension. Does anyone else have this setup, and if so, is the cab benificial to the overall sound?
Technically speaking how would this setup work? Does that amp split it's wattage between main spkr output and extension spkr output?
Thanks

It looks like nobody has any experience with the Super-Sonic 212 cab. Oh well... I had hoped to get some good info.
Now I have a different question regarding the Super-Sonic 212 cab. I called my local Guitar Center to see if they had any in stock, and I was told that they just sold their last one, but that was the old version which was apparently much less expensive than the "new" version. The guy told me that the "new" version was back ordered until September.
I had no idea there was an "old" and "new" version of this cab. Is anyone else aware of this? What is the difference? Why did they change it? What makes the new one more expensive? ...and please... I'm still curious to know if it would be beneficial for me to purchase one of these as an extension of my Super-Sonic 112 combo. If anyone can answer that I'd be grateful.
Thanks

the combo's internal speaker receives 50% of the amp's power as does the 2x12 cab, but each speaker in that 2x12 cab receives only 25% of the total power.

Yes. You will move more air and your sound will cover more area. The more area you have sound covering the better the tone & sound quality. The area being the sound cone of a speaker.

1x12 combos-limited low end and most I've tried sound too boxy. There's just not enough air in them. Compared to hooking them up to a single 2X12 cab.

Brand and quality had nothing to do with it. It was just a physical limitation of the small cabinet it's in.

I do know is that every single 1X12 combo amp I've played sounds SO much better when a 2X12 cab is used with the combo's internal speaker. There were no exceptions.

2X12 combos fare much better but still come up short when compared to using just a 2X12 combo (without extension cab) but some amp manufacturers will use larger enclosures to try and minimize this difference.

I tested Marshall 2x12 (2000 Super Lead with one Vintage 30 and one Heritage) open back with SuperSonic and total sound was little better.

Then I tested and connected 'old good friend' MusicMan RD112 1x12 combo from SS's power amp out to MusicMan power amp in and woo....oow!!!

Try this if you have possibility find some good clean combo like MusicMan or maybe another SS before you purchase some external box.
