Hi SpacemanSpliffz,

Is it a Frontman 65R?

It's this exact amp

Image

I was wondering about things like
-what type of footswitches are compatible (it has two gain channels on the hi and the lo inputs, as well as reverb

- the reverb hums if i play through the speaker but if i plug headphones in it plays like a dream. Direct lined it into board and recorded parts for an ep today and it was flawless. I know it's a solid state, wondering if that's contributing to the hum through the actual amp speaker

- I know it was made in japan, inbetween 1989-1993 but can't figure out a proper date for the actual manufacture.

- the history of this line is almost untraceable, was wondering why info on them is so scarce!

Thanks again for any help :)

Look at the rear panel on the chassis and check to see if this amp were intended to be used with something other than 60 Hz 120 VAC. If it is, there may lie the source of your problem(s).

Spaceman...I did some research and the ONLY thing I could find in writing was a Price list dated 1 Feb 1992.
Here is the info that was listed: It was part of the SK Series of Solid State amps.
Fender P/N number is 023-2800-000, 65 Watts, 12 Inch speaker, "Power Shift", 2 channels w/ independent tone controls, Reverb, Effects Loop, headphone jack, $349.99.

Footswitch for the SK Series Amps is P/N 003-7559-000 1-button for Reverb On/Off, While the amp has two channels, the amp doesn't appear to have channel switching

This amp was not listed in the subsequent years price list, so it appears to be a one year amp, or this series morphed into another. It was made in Japan it appears.
