I bought the 68 Princeton custom last week and I'm returning it today. It sounds great but it has many issues. Popping and cracking sounds while playing or not playing. The vibrato is loud and fizzy. And the external speaker out doesn't work. Pretty disappointed. I was originally going to buy the deluxe reverb of the same variety but when I tried it at a local music store it too had issues. Fortunately I could identify them before I walked out of the store with the amp. Rough run of amps I'm thinking. Too bad because the sound great.
Sorry to hear of your troubles. If you wanted a Deluxe Reverb, check out the used market. They are great amps and can be had for a decent price. I see them alot for 700 , but you can regularly snag one on ebay for 600.

That's tragic. I wonder how many more times FMIC will fumble the ball before they finally score a touchdown. I've got my eye on the new VM Vibrolux Reverb but I surely won't be buying one before it passes muster on the critical parameters.

Make sure the tubes are fully seated in their sockets. Shipping and transporting can loosen them and cause them to make poor contact causing them to make all kinds of noises. If it still does it I would suggest taking it back.

FMIC needs someone with the force of will like a George Patton, Curt LeMay, or a Norm Schwarzkopf to go to those plants and fire some managers, deep-six the deadwood on the factory floor, and straighten that $hit out once and for all. A few heads rolling out the door of the R&D department might not be a bad idea either. Every instance of a substandard product falling into the hands of a customer further erodes Fender's once-stellar reputation as company that manufactured products that consumers could trust.

Leo sure wouldn't put up with this if he was still around running the company,...and neither would Forrest White,...his plant manager!
