My amp tech to reduce the buzz generated by the single coils guitars, removed a resistor R27 from v4a pin 3 going to ground.

Lately the amp is sounding not as loud and a bit underpowered. Could it be that the extra signal going to ground because of the missing resistor is what is causing this? Or just the power tubes need replacement.

If anyone is more expert and can offer an opinion or some assistance it would be greatly appreciated.

Your so-called "amp tech" is an idiot. V4A is the reverb receiver. He removed the cathode resistor that sets the bias level for that tube. No wonder it sounds like crap. Tell him to put the resistor back where it belongs and find another tech, preferably one that knows what he is doing.

Single coil guitars hum and buzz. That's life. If it is really bad, take the guitar to a luthier and have him/her check the grounds and possibly add some shielding if the pickup cavities are unshielded.

Do not ever use that "amp tech" again.

I agree with you! I was checking the schematics last night and got to the same conclusion. I am going to another place and get it done there....

Thanks for the help!
